Silverfire#1 using indoors

Why indoors and how? Maybe you have a long term power outage and you don’t have an outside space to fire up your Silverfire. Is it possible to use it indoors? Yes, providing you have an open fireplace with a chimney OR you have a backup power supply to power an extractor fan over your cooker.

What sort of fuel to use? It depends, if you have an open fireplace that has an upward draught then you could burn old socks. No, keep a stock of kindling wood in, just in case. If firing up where your cooker is it could be OK if your extractor efficiently extracts to the outdoors. Charcoal briquettes work ok with no smoke but plenty of carbon monoxide. I boiled 500ml water in 7.5 minutes on 10 partly used charcoal briquettes (it had been used with a Dutch Oven to bake a loaf) and continued boiling for a further 30 mins and simmered for another 20 minutes.

Do BEWARE carbon monoxide is extremely dangerous and you need to get fumes from charcoal to the big outdoors via your chimney or extractor. My alarm came on and was persistent. I opened all windows and it eventually stopped.
